Basic installation recommendations for the Tracer Spacer.
1.) Install or roll out gas pipe.
2.) Roll out tracer wire.
3.) Secure tracer wire at one end. (eg. Secure to riser, secure to main tracer wire, or secure to wooden stake.)
4.) Begin at secured end installing Tracer Spacers every 5 to 10 feet or as needed to maintain a safe distance between pipe and wire.
5.) Gently pull slack from wire between Tracer Spacers as you go. Do not use excessive force to pull slack out.
6.) Tracer Spacers should be installed to the right or left side of the gas pipe resting on trench floor. If trench width does not permit this, Tracer Spacers can be installed above the pipe and resting on either the left or right wall of the trench.
7.) For best results store at room temperature (avoid excessive heat).
Basic installation recommendations for the Common Trench Spacer.
1) Install all utilities in trench. (for best results, gas should be placed in last to prevent other utilities from disturbing the placement of the TracerSpacers.)
2) Roll out tracer wire.
3) Starting at the beginning of the trench, install a TracerSpacer on the pipe, placing all other utilities on far side of vertical post. (The weight of the other utilities will help to hold the TracerSpacer in place, while ensuring a safe separation of one foot.)
4) Snap tracer wire into clip located between the pipe end and the vertical post. Do not use excessive force to pull slack out of tracer wire.
5) Continue this process down the length of the trench, installing TracerSpacers approximately every 8 to 10 feet apart or as needed to maintain a safe separation of utilities and a safe separation of tracer wire and PE pipe.
6) In areas where the trench curves, or around hand holes or transformers, TracerSpacers may have to be installed less than the recommended 8 to 10 feet apart to maintain separation. Discretion is to be used in these areas.
7) TracerSpacers for common trench should not be used as restraining devices or to create one foot of separation where one foot cannot be achieved normally. They are simply spacers to maintain a safe separation of utilities and ensure that the separation is not compromised during the backfilling process.
